MY PRIVACY POLICY

in 'plain English'

The "one-woman band" approach

As a sole trader, I'm a one-person show. I'm doing my best to keep up with regulations designed for big corporations while armed with a keyboard and a strong cup of coffee.

How to Reach Me

If you have any questions about your data or this privacy notice, please contact me at: emj@crowproudly.com

The "I promise I'm not evil" pledge

I've read the Information Commissioner's Office guidelines on GDPR compliance.

Yes, I read it (no, I didn't just skim it while binge-watching panda videos).

If you've ever sent me an email or bought something from my website, you might want to read on.

Not because I'm planning world dominance with your data, but to reassure yourself that I'm treating your information with more care than my granny’s china.

What information do I collect, and why?

I collect and use your information to provide services, manage accounts, and keep you updated.

* Email addresses of people who've contacted me (saved automatically by my email software, not because I'm hoarding them like digital Pokemon)

* Purchase history

* Account information

* Marketing preferences

* Feedback and complaints

Why I'm allowed to have this information

1) Consent (you gave me your info)

  1. 2) Contract (we pinky-promised)
  2. 3) Legal obligation (the government made me do it)

How Long I'm Keeping Your Data

I'm not a data hoarder, I promise! Here's my "keep it or bin it" schedule:

  • Order info: 7 years (blame the taxman)
  • Marketing preferences: Until you tell me to stop (or the sun explodes, whichever comes first)
  • Complaints: 3 years (just in case)
  • Compliments: A jolly long time (they're good for morale, you know)

I'll only keep your data for as long as necessary, but some bits need to stay longer than others.

If you're ever curious about what I've got, reach out.

Who I share your data with

I only share your data when necessary with

* Subcontracted marketing professionals (in the event we’ve agreed to involve additional professionals)

* Government bodies (when legally required)

International Data Transfer

Sometimes, your data is held outside the UK (e.g. to cloud services based in the EU or US). When this happens, I ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data, in compliance with the UK GDPR.

Your rights (because you're worth it)

You can ask me to delete your data. If you want to see what I've got on you, I'll take a screenshot quicker than you can say "GDPR".

Under GDPR (or, as I like to call it, the "Give People Data Rights" Act), you can:

  • Ask for a copy of your data (it's like a slightly dull version of your life story).
  • Tell me to fix any mistakes (I'm only human, after all).
  • Ask me to forget you (I'll try not to take it personally).
  • Tell me to stop using your data in certain ways (I'm quite accommodating).
  • Object to how I'm using your data (feel free to wag your finger at me).
  • Ask for your data in a portable format (in case you fancy a digital holiday).
  • Change your mind about consent (no hard feelings, promise).

Fancy exercising these rights? Drop me a line. I'll respond within a month.

The "Fort Knox of Data" assurance

I've password-protected everything, use 2FA, face recognition and fingerprint identification.

I use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, so I can't guarantee absolute security.

Cookies and log data

I don’t use cookies on this portfolio site.

Third-Party Links

This website has links to other sites. I'm not responsible for their privacy practices, so please check their policies.

Children's Privacy

I don't knowingly collect data from children. If you believe I have, please contact me to have it removed.

Changes to this Privacy Notice

I might update this notice if I have a sudden epiphany about data protection (or if the law tells me to). I'll let you know if anything big changes.

Wrapping Up

If you've made it this far, congratulations! You're now officially more informed about data protection than 99% of the internet.

Remember, in the world of data protection, I'm just trying my best to keep up with the big boys. I take your privacy seriously, even if I try to keep things lighthearted.

Now, go treat yourself to a biscuit – you've earned it!
